Saanio & Riekkola Oy, as it is known today, was established in 1962 and provides specialised consulting services in the field of infrastructure design and radioactive waste disposal. The company specialises in the design of underground construction projects, technology for the disposal of radioactive waste and HVAC design.
Saanio & Riekkola Oy believes that underground construction provides an environmentally-responsible solution to many of the development challenges faced in today’s world.

7.-10.9.2015, the NEA Regulators' Forum (RWMC/RF) was conducting an international workshop on Challenges to the Regulators in Siting and Licensing the Construction and Operation of Radioactive Waste Repositories.
